The little chapel is a quiet, cool place to sit and meditate...or pray...or maybe carry on a relaxed conversation with a friend. Note the huge, old vigas supporting the ceiling.
"Capilla" in Spanish means "Chapel." Northern New Mexico's landscape saw many of these little chapels built by families who were long distances from a church and the chapels, from very tiny to some pretty big and grand, served the families spiritual needs between visits from their priests.

But this old building was not originally a Capilla. It was actually where they stored ammunition during the time this was a small fort. Vi and Ross Garcia took what was pretty much a building in advanced ruin and turned it into this beautiful little chapel. Ross has since passed away.

Please visit our Capilla and find in it a few moments of quiet and peace!
